AGOURA HILLS, California – Awakenings Treatment Center has announced the promotion of Chief Operating Officer, Daniel Petersen, as Owner-Partner and COO.
“We are thrilled to announce Daniel Petersen’s owner partnership at Awakenings Treatment Center, following seven exceptional years in roles of increasing responsibility,” says Dr. Shari Corbitt, Founder and Co-CEO of Awakenings Treatment Center.
Petersen accepted a partnership offer with Dr. Shari Stillman-Corbitt in February 2023. His role at Awakenings Treatment Center is multi-faceted. An advocate for evidence-based interventions to help clients and their families navigate their healing journey and treatment experience, he is deeply passionate about mental health and mental health awareness.
Petersen also believes everyone deserves access to high-quality mental health care, and he works tirelessly to promote this cause. As a vocal advocate for mental health, he regularly attends conferences and events, and shares his story to raise awareness and reduce stigma.
As the Chief Operating Officer of Awakenings Treatment Center, a role he will retain with his partnership, Petersen is responsible for ensuring the facility runs smoothly and the clients receive the best possible care. He oversees all aspects of operations, from admissions to discharge.

Petersen joined Awakenings Treatment Center with 20 years of business experience, including extensive management and sales skills, and an ability to maintain long-term relationships with both his clients and personnel. “Daniel understands the importance of effective and compassionate leadership!” Dr. Corbitt continued.
The Awakenings Treatment Center staff consists of 30 specialists providing a wide range of mental health and addiction treatment modalities. These specialists receive regular training and support to ensure they meet the highest standards. Standards required by both state licensing bodies and Awakenings Treatment Center protocols.
