Chronic pain is one of the most misdiagnosed and mistreated diseases in modern medicine today. Awakenings Treatment Center is the only treatment center available that offers a robust day program for treating chronic pain. We treat dozens of clients suffering from the malady. Half of the clients we treat at the center are there for some manifestation.
Treating Chronic Pain is Complex
Treating complex chronic pain is extremely challenging, and it requires widely varied modalities that behavioral healthcare facilities don’t include, and we do. We get remarkable results. Most of our clients are relieved of their pain within a few months.
As an intensive outpatient care facility, Awakenings Treatment Center specializes in treating primary mental health challenges, chronic pain, eating disorders and/or addictions. The13,000-square-foot state-of-the-art facility wends through a full floor of a spacious office building, in a labyrinth of warm, soothing treatment rooms that are individualized to aid each client’s needs and a path to healing.
We use a holistic approach, including breath-work, meditation, and mindfulness. Neurofeedback, Alpha-Stim and movement therapy are among the best for pain management. Some facilities offer yoga, and that is wonderful, but the strategic movement therapy we offer for chronic pain is a whole different animal.
A Vital Need for Treatment
The need is great for treating a disorder that often gets short medical shrift. Ironically, because it is so prevalent. Chronic pain is one of the most common diseases. It’s also widely varied and interconnected with trauma and other health issues. Thus, it’s commonly misunderstood and under-diagnosed.
We screen every client for chronic pain because it’s so ubiquitous. Some people will say they get a ‘normal’ number of migraines. But did you know the normal number is zero?
People are troopers though! So many suffer from incessant pain, migraine headaches or exhaustion. Yet they remain tremendously committed to their families and jobs, and they keep ignoring it, and they wind up debilitated.
Those most commonly struck by this disorder are first responders. They come from a culture where you just buck up. Most clients come to us via medical referrals. However, we encourage anyone who thinks they suffer from ongoing pain to seek treatment.
